Costumes on trail. Easy miles. A little friendly competition. And plenty of reasons to laugh at each other.

We're bringing back our Halloween Costume Hike for a second year, and this time we're doing it on Halloween itself!

Join Hike & Hit and Auburn Alehouse for an afternoon of fresh air, good company, creative costumes, and a little Halloween fun.

We'll head out from the Quarry Trail parking area toward the Auburn climbing area before turning around and making our way back. This is a casual, family-friendly hike, so whether you're a regular on the trails or joining us for the first time, you're welcome.

No workouts planned... yet.

COSTUMES, TREATS & PRIZES

Costumes are highly encouraged! We'll have some friendly competition, prizes for our favorite costumes, and treats for the kids.

Whether you go all out or throw something together at the last minute, we're just happy to have you out there.

Just make sure your costume is comfortable and safe enough to hike in.

OPTIONAL DINNER AT AUBURN ALEHOUSE

After the hike, those who want to keep the festivities going are welcome to join us for dinner and drinks at Auburn Alehouse.

Dinner is completely optional and at your own expense. We know it's Halloween and many families have trick-or-treating and other festivities planned. No pressure to join us afterward!

PARKING INFORMATION — PLEASE READ

Parking at the Quarry Trail can be challenging, especially on weekends with good weather. We highly encourage carpooling and arriving 20–30 minutes early to allow enough time to find parking and make your way to our meeting location.

Parking Options:

  • FREE Parking: Available along Highway 49 (parallel parking only, in designated areas).
  • PAID Parking: Other designated parking areas are $10 per vehicle. Cash only at the self-pay stations.
  • Credit Card Payments: If you don't have cash, credit card payments can be made at the kiosk near the Lake Clementine Trailhead, which requires walking down to the kiosk.

Please park only in designated areas and be mindful of traffic and pedestrians along Highway 49.

We appreciate everyone's patience and encourage you to plan ahead so we can get started on time!

WHAT TO BRING

  • Comfortable walking or hiking shoes
  • A trail-friendly Halloween costume
  • Water
  • Light layers
  • $10 cash for parking, if needed
  • A small backpack if needed
  • A leash if bringing your dog
  • Your Halloween spirit

GOOD TO KNOW

Trail Safety: Although this is considered an easy hike, participants should be comfortable walking approximately 3 miles on outdoor terrain. Costumes should not restrict movement or visibility.

Kids & Dogs: All ages are welcome! Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and dogs must remain on leash.

Leave No Trace: Please pack out everything you bring, including candy wrappers and costume accessories. Let's leave the trail better than we found it.

Participation: This is a voluntary outdoor activity. All participants are responsible for their own safety, preparation, physical abilities, and personal belongings. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children.

COME AS YOU ARE. OR SOMEONE ELSE.

We love bringing people together outdoors, especially when it gives someone a reason to try something new, spend time with family, or reconnect with friends.

And if we can do all that while dressed like a bunch of ridiculous characters walking through the Auburn State Recreation Area, even better.

See you on the trail!
