SUNSET BEAST MODE @ BERRYESSA

Saturday, October 10, 2026 | 4:00 PM

This is NOT a traditional Hike & Hit group hike.

Beast Mode is something our team has wanted to do for a while. Instead of moving together as a group, we’re using this trail as a personal fitness barometer — testing how quickly and efficiently we can make the climb to the top while still moving safely and within our own abilities.

Think fast hike / light jog. Minimal stops. Your pace. Your effort.

There will be no group pace, lead, mid or anchor, and no sweep. We are not guiding participants up or down the mountain. Everyone who joins is responsible for navigating the trail, choosing their own pace, knowing their limits and carrying what they need.

THE ROUTES

There are two ways to meet us at the top:

Traditional Route: Approximately 3.5 miles to the top, followed by roughly 1.5 miles down, for about 5 miles total. This is the Beast Mode route our team will use to test ourselves.

Short Route: If you’re running late, don’t want the full climb, or simply want a shorter option, there is an approximately 1.1-mile route to the top. Return the same way for just over 2 miles total.

Whichever route you choose, you are responsible for knowing and navigating your route. We strongly recommend downloading the trail map for offline use before arriving.

HOW IT WORKS

Everyone moves at their own pace and on their own terms. This is not a race, and there is no expectation that anyone keep up with another participant or with the Hike & Hit team.

The community part happens at the top.

Once there, we’ll regroup, catch our breath, hang out and watch the sunset together before everyone makes their way back down.

WHAT TO BRING

Trail shoes with solid traction, plenty of water, light snacks/electrolytes and layers for when the temperature drops. A headlamp or flashlight is required — sunset is the reason we’re going, which means the return hike will be in fading light or darkness.

Bring a watch or tracking app if you want to record your time.

Most importantly, bring what you need to move safely and independently.

GOOD TO KNOW

This trail is steep and demanding. Know your limits.

There is no formal on-trail support, pacing, coaching or sweep. Do not rely on Hike & Hit or another participant for navigation, water, equipment or assistance getting up or down the trail.

Questions are always welcome, but please research the trail and your chosen route beforehand. Come prepared to be responsible for your own experience.
